Campo Abierto is a biannual scientific journal promoted and managed by the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the University of Extremadura (UEx). Since its creation in 1982, the journal has been aimed at researchers, teachers and members of the educational community at all stages of the educational system, including higher education institutions dedicated to the training of teachers, professors, educational psychologists and psychologists.

Initially focused on the dissemination of quality educational research within the European Union and Latin America, Campo Abierto has expanded its scope, now accepting papers of international interest without geographical limitations.

The journal publishes original works, both theoretical and practical, presenting findings in various areas, such as educational research and evaluation methodologies; analysis of educational systems and public policies; evolution and history of contemporary educational systems; educational reforms and innovations; quality and equity in education; specific didactics; teacher selection, training and professional development; international cooperation for educational development; educational psychology; developmental psychology in its different stages; psychoeducational attention to diversity; psychology of disability; social psychology in the educational field; prevention programs; and treatment of different psychopathologies. Additionally, and in exceptional cases, at the proposal of the Editorial Board, descriptive works on innovative educational experiences will be considered for publication.

Campo Abierto publishes mainly in Spanish, but also accepts manuscripts in Portuguese and English. The journal adheres to open access policies and employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process.
