The Spanish educational tradition has been marked throughout history by a true monopoly on the part of the Catholic Church. From 1970 with the General Education Law in the framework of the Spanish Transition towards Democracy, the situation, attitudes and values begin to change towards a more open secularism. However, religious editorials continue to predominate in our schools, and there is a veiled interest to maintain the hegemony of which the Catholic Church enjoyed for so long, implementing a large number of religious images in their school editions. The data obtained reveal that twice the sample of the books belongs to religious editorials and 90% of the religious images are distributed among these, being the editorial Anaya (10%) the only one of the lay group that implements in its editions religious images.
