PRODUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN THE BRAZILIAN NORTHEAST: THE IMPACT OF NATIONAL AND FOREIGN POSTGRADUATE SYSTEMS

This paper presents the main results of interinstitutional research developed in the Brazilian Northeast on the scientific production of researchers who work in Physical Education courses in the region. The regional inequality of the scientific and technological development of Brazil, characterizes the production of researchers who migrate to other regions of Brazil, and abroad, or to other areas of knowledge, in the face of the lack of Post-graduate programs in Physical Education in the Northeast region. Researchers migrate to the regions: South (11%), Southeast (26%), Central West (6%), and exterior (14%), or seek other areas: education (29%), health sciences social sciences (6%) and biological sciences (4%). Despite the unfavorable conditions of the region and the impacts of graduate systems external and of other scientific areas, both the volume of production and the quality of research are highly significant and necessary to understand the construction of the scientific field of Physical Education in Brazil
