Comprometimento cognitivo e autonomia funcional em idosos: implicações psicoeducativas para a intervenção

Este estudo descreve o perfil cognitivo e funcional dos idosos e analisa as suas implicações psicoeducativas. Sessenta e um idosos (M = 81,48 anos) participaram e foram avaliados através do MMSE, ENM.dem, Índice de Barthel, Escala de Lawton e Brody e Escala de Depressão Geriátrica. 86,9 % obtiveram pontuações compatíveis com défice cognitivo no MMSE e 63,9 % apresentaram anormalidades no ENM.dem. Os resultados revelam uma elevada prevalência de deterioração cognitiva, dependência funcional e sintomas depressivos na amostra estudada, e evidenciam a necessidade de desenvolver intervenções psicoeducativas integrais destinadas a preservar a autonomia, estimular o funcionamento cognitivo e melhorar a qualidade de vida dos idosos.
