We show two teaching experiences that are the result of two manuals development: 'De la frase al dicho' I and II. The common next is the usage of idioms and the word 'catchall' as didactic resources. lts usage is directed to the primary and secondary stages and are focused ou students with learning difficulties in the ·language' subject. With this teaching offer we are in favour of a communicative and functional approach and we focus our educative intentions towards the development of capacities of comprehension, expression and reflexion about the Linguistic and communicative usages of the students; above all, those ones who have an inmediate effect on expression and, as a result, on the 'thought '.
