Resignification of heritage. What can be taught and/or learned today about the Valley of the Fallen Memorial?

Abstract

What do 2nd year high school students know about the symbolism of Franco's heritage? Do you know how to define what national-Catholicism consisted of? What do monuments to the fallen have in common with other places of memory? Should the function of the monumental heritage of undemocratic regimes be redefined? Students must approach these issues with a critical thinking that allows them to reflect on historical memory and the convenience of maintaining or transforming certain spaces, such as the Valley of the Fallen, in a setting stripped of the original political and ideological functionality of its construction.
