In our teaching experience we consider the importance of teaching resources to introduce mathematical concepts and processes in the different levels and contents of the curriculum. Working with the quadrangular geoplane and the number board suggested numerous activities that we have basically developed in teacher training, and experimented with elementary and secondary students. Based on this, we have proposed a new teaching resource that we have called the Geonumerical Board, whose patent was registered in 2016.
In this work we describe the new resource and show activities where we work, at the same time, geometric and arithmetic concepts (on another level, also algebraic) in its resolution. The novelty that we contribute, by combining these two materials (quadrangular geoplane and the numerical board), is the interaction between geometry and arithmetic and in the formulation and resolution of math problems, in primary and secondary education. This gives the Geonumerical Board a dimension of transversality within the teaching and learning of Mathematics.
