Abstract

In 2019, the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Normal School of Teachers of Badajoz was celebrated, a center that, over time, would become what is today the Faculty of Education of the University of Extremadura. In this study we want to analyze the third of its historical periods into which we have divided its historical trajectory during the 19th century, it is a short period, but one that marked its historical development intensely. In these brief years, two transcendental events have took place for our Normal School: the first, which achieves its hierarchical independence with respect to the city's Institute of Second Education and, the second, which manages to impart in its facilities the teachings aimed at obtaining the higher grade teacher title.
