The coronavirus pandemic has affected the entire society in different ways, where a lot of information is conveyed in the communicative media, news about dissemination and vaccination in different ways. How can this current context be problematized pedagogically, especially in mathematics? In this sense, problem situations were elaborated using as a didactic resource news on the theme of Covid-19 published in digital media, in order to problematize such information. The purpose of this article is to discuss the potential, limits and challenges for working mathematical concepts from problem-situations on Covid-19. These problem situations were analyzed by students enrolled in Mathematics I, through a script of questions. This study points out that working mathematics from problem-situations is a way of reframing concepts and conceiving the process of teaching more dynamic and interactive, however, it is highlighted that it allows the experience of working with problem-situations both in initial training. as a continuation of the teachers is essential.
